“The Missing Brain” – The Power of Your Brain Entries

Written and Posted By: Margie Babon

The Missing Brain-Set 4LR

While reading this post, you have a thought of other things jammed in your superhighway mind. Perhaps you still recall of what your boss has told you few days ago and concurrently still imagining yourself sitting in the white beach while at this very moment you feel hungry and craving for food that you forgot you already warm the bread still in the toast. A lot of things in the head and without your knowing, your brain sub-consciously reviewing the inputs from news, updates and other information you absorb within the whole day.

So what is this thing called attention?

According to Wikipedia, Attention is the behavioral and cognitive process of selectively concentrating on a discrete aspect of information, whether deemed subjective or objective, while ignoring other perceivable information. It is the taking possession by the mind in clear and vivid form of one out of what seem several simultaneous objects or trains of thought. Focalization, concentration of consciousness are of its essence.

The behavior of giving attention is related to consciousness though it is complex to comprehend more as it also related to psychology, neuropsychology and education. Attention is about being present at the moment totally focusing on what is in front of us setting aside other series of thoughts. When we pay attention, we are putting total awareness that we ignore and tend to forget even space and time. Don’t you think, attention is a skill? Without this ability to focus, we cannot survive. This ability to focus and select important information depends in the frontal lobe where we also create habitual activities like focusing and ignoring information.

From the book “Evolve Your Brain- The Science of Changing Your Mind,” by Dr. Joe Dispenza,

“As the frontal lobe allows you to place sustained attention on any one thing, such as reading pages, it turns off other brain circuit that have to do with modalities like hearing, tasting, etc.  The better you are at paying attention to your internal mental imagery, the more you can rewire your brain and the easier it is to control other circuits in the brain that process familiar sensory stimulation.”

Attention brings life to everything that we focus upon and making it real. Thinking too much of worries and other petty thoughts is such a waste of time. Rather develop more the ability to focus on what is necessary and important task by taking action, to fully involved with it. It is by our attention that we encourage ourselves to do our very best!

“The Brain in Action”-The Power of Your Brain Entries

Written and Posted by: Margie Babon

“As the fruit to the tree and the water to the spring, so is action to thought. It does not come into manifestation suddenly and without a cause. It is the result of a long and silent growth; the end of hidden process which has long been gathering force.

Every thought, every act, every habit, is the direct outcome of a certain fixed belief, and one’s conduct alters only as one’s belief are modified, not by external force but by its own self-improvement.”                                                                                                                                            -Excerpt from the book, As A Man Thinketh, by James Allen

Human beings share the same task when it comes to the function of the brain…. neurologically, structurally, and biologically. Generally, we behave, we function, we work, we think, we move, we communicate in a similar way. The brain has archaic compartment where the location of the skills, behavior, and traits makes us the same. This is how the brain is organized.

Illustration showing archaic compartment in the human brain where cognitive skills and learning are located.

Thinking is not compartmentalized but a continuous process of the brain. But having a thought of new information can be likened to having its own module, having its own cubicle signifying that a single piece of information is connected to a certain cognitive skills. The more learning and new experiences we gain; the more nerve cells connection we create in the brain. And this is how each individual separates one another—on how they are upgrading their brain through connection of  the neurons.  The more connections in the brain, the more information, learning  and the more skills we create.

Here is the 3rd set of The Power of the Brain cartoon collection showing the cognitive skills of the human brain.

“Forty is the old age of youth; fifty the youth of old age.” -Victor Hugo

Everyone has a touch of being a genius but many are afraid to overcome their own fear of expressing who they are, cultivating their talent and follow passionately what do they really want in life.

Human brain is goal-oriented organism and it knows by itself that it wants to succeed and make accomplishments. And this is what separates the genius from average people—- genius understands that the power within them is to take action of what is in their mind. To produce something out of the thinking mind like the artist, cartoonist, and illustrator that produce tangible results out of imagination, deep thinking and passion.

Again, thank you very much to all the participants around the globe. Know that all of you are incredibly genius!!

“Genius is the ability to put into effect what is on your mind.” -F. Scott Fitzgerald

“Earth & Me”- What Humanity is Hoping For, part 1

Posted By: Margie Babon

As individual, we can make small ways to make our planet healthy and beautiful like planting of trees, recycling our home trash, buying locally especially food as this reduce carbon foot print and it benefits local economy helping local farmer, not demanding too much processed food and material things as these consume too much natural resources, by becoming a vegetarian or eating more veggies than meat, as this lessen manufacturing process reducing use of energy, and water, less killing of animals, less global warming, less of everything and a lot more.

But the main and bigger solution to help lessen global warming lies to the entrepreneur and businessmen who provides human needs for consumption. If every company has concern for the environment, producing product that are earth-friendly, imagine how ecosystem will be balanced and not being compromised by so much technology.

Here are the entries that suggest hope for the planet.

“The Reality”- Why We Should Care for the Planet, Part 1

Posted By: Margie Babon

Global warming, rapidly growing populations and the astonishing expansion of the world’s middle class through globalization have produced a planet that is “hot, flat and crowded.” Already the earth is being affected in ways that threaten to make it dangerously unstable. -Thomas Friedman, Hot, Flat and Crowded

Let’s look at the reality, earth is facing a serious and threatening problem and we humans are affected by it. No wonder, most of the entries received are signifying  environmental crisis and issues.
